Bowen’s research interests focus on seeking explanations and motivations for individuals that have atypical sexual desires and engage in paraphilic behaviors such as fetishism, sadism/masochism, etc. In addition, Bowen also concerned with the negative influence of stigma on these kinky folks. He seeks to explore the potential threat this stigma poses to their mental health and psychological well-being. In the long run, Bowen wishes to engage in research and/or practice that seeks to help kinky folks, especially those in vulnerable situations, to live a distress-free life in our society.
Bowen is set to receive his BA degree in Intensive Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz in the spring of 2018.
